Heritage Council Field Trip - September 2014
The Heritage Council undertook its first trip down the track to inspect sites that have been nominated for heritage listing - assess works undertaken & proposed on heritage sites - meet property owners, heritage devotees and Local Government representatives from the Municipal & Regional Councils. The Heritage Council meeting at Alice Springs capped off a long & worthwhile week consolidating Government's commitment to the preservation of heritage icons critical to the tourism industry which celebrates a proud history of struggle & achievement in rural and remote areas.

Brocks Creek gold mine about 60-70 miles south of Darwin situated near Pine Creek. Gold was discovered there in 1872. Various buildings are numbered on this photograph and the details on the back are : 1) Old chemical pump shaft. 2) No. 1 whip shaft. 3) No. 2 whip shaft. 4) No. 3 whip shaft. 5) new shaft and tramway to battery. 6) timber shacks. 7) manager's house and office. 8) old pumping engine. 9) saw mill. 10) dam. 11) huts for Europeans. 12) tramline to railway.
